A view of railroad tracks along the calm waters with snow covered mountains in the distance. Between Skagway, Alaska and Carcross, Yukon. (Probably actually somewhere in British Columbia not Alaska.)
I’d always liked trains growing up, the only trains I rode much were metro subway systems, but I still thought it cool. I fully believed it was the transit system of the future. Still do to an extent. I know some people find subways to be disgusting or scary, but I like it, even if they’re not always very clean. On this Alaska visit I only rode a train once to get from Skagway to Whittier, and it wasn’t very long but I was reminded how peaceful it is compared to the hassle of flying or the length of time a drive would take. Granted, it may just be more comfortable than a drive, it’s not exactly much faster over a short distance.
